The Kitt vs Kar poster was designed by Formula Type founder Piero Di Biase for the AGI 2024 Congress special project. If a driverless car causes an accident, whose fault is it? To what extent is the designer in control when producing an image using AI? Inspired by the 1980s series Knight Rider, in which an AI-powered car called Karr challenges the driver-driven car called Kitt, Piero Di Biase starts a dialogue on typography with Midjourney, involving inspiration and interpretative freedom. Drawing on the designer’s Kitt lettering, Midjourney created the Karr lettering, blending the font with close-ups of crashed self-driving cars.
